We received this beautiful message from one of our long term members Sandy Lee, we just had to share it 💙

Hi my name is Sandy, I’m 65 years young.

And this is my story:

I’ve been at this gym since 2002, my second home/family.  I walked or wobbled into the gym early 2002 at my heaviest weight:  125kgs.  Wanting help to lose weight for my upcoming wedding in Oct 2002, I lost 27kgs with the help of a Personal Trainer until she left.  I then found my current Personal trainer Sheree.  God bless you darling, you’re my inspiration.  We’ve travelled a very long road together.  It’s been a hell of a ride over these years.

Life throws many curve balls at us and I’ve had to overcome many struggles:  A brain tumor, (that was a major for me on a daily basis), the ending of my marriage and then losing my mum.  I’ve been hit by a car, ripping my rotator cuff and a broken scapular in two places.  That was pretty horrific and I’m still recovering from it.  (basically it was a botched surgery 2017)

Recently over the last couple of years under the knife again with three total knee replacements (as one got infected).  I remember I was a very sick girl at the time.  I took a little time out for recovery.  I walked back into True on crutches, fat and feeling very sorry for myself (Jan 2020).  Seeking out my girl Sheree, asking her to help me.  I remember what she said on that day:  I got you, I’ve got your back and you’re not alone.  So again, I started.  Slow at first with the training because of my many injuries.  With the encouragement of my trainer and sheer determination, I’m now seeing results.  I feel stronger everyday and I’m thrilled with the results.  There’s still a lot of work in front of me, but I’ve got this!!!   Health!!! ……In mind, body and spirit.

I think at the end of the day, what I’m saying is:  Never give up.  I still have my moments.  Even when life throws curve balls, I still turn up, I do the hard work, I get it done.

I empower all of us to put one foot in front of the other and keep moving.  We all have a story, we will get to where we want to be if that’s what our heart truly desires.

I love our gym, the girls, and the team.  Because we are REAL women with determination and a plan.

Thank you Sheree and True for being there xxx
