What is it?
The Panasonic Peoples Triathlon Series is Auckland’s longest running triathlon series and the 2017/2018 season will stage four events between November and March. Two of these will be held from Maraetai Beach and the other two will be from Mission Bay.
As part of this series participants have the chance to race a variety of distances in both triathlon and duathlon. All events have a wide range of abilities enabling participants to race as competitively or non-competitively as they like.
We’ll be focusing on the Try-A-Tri. This even is designed specifically for beginners. It’s over a short distance and is super achievable even if you’ve never run, swum or ridden a bike in your life!!
What training is involved?
The True Try-A-Tri Training will start on 24th Sept.
Saturday mornings at 8.30 am.
Session 1 – Bike set up, how to change and use your gears and then go for a ride. 30 min ride followed by 10 min run/walk
Session 2 – Running basics, 30 min ride followed by 20 min run/walk
Session 3 – Ride for 40 min/Run 20 min
Session 4 – Ride 40 min/ Run 25 min
Session 5 – Based at Maraetai – Swim 100 m, bike 30 min and run 10 min. Talk about transitions etc.
Session 6 – Ride 30 min / run 20 min
The first event is at Maraetai on Sunday the 5th of November.
Hate the water??
Train for the duathlon, which is just the cycle and the run.
